Women of the Month

The ICM Woman of the month you may already know.  She has been all over the blogosphere with her EA active sport 30 day challenge and has inspired me to take better care of myself.  I introduce to you the new ICM Woman of the Month.

reneerossName: Renée J. Ross

Business and/or Blog: Cutie Booty Cakes

Web address: http://cutiebootycakes.com

Tell us a bit about your business?  Why did you start this business?  What inspired you?

I started my blog a year ago to promote Cutie Booty Cakes – diapers shaped like cakes. Although I do still sell the diaper cakes, my blog really focuses on my life as a mother and active participant in social media. My blog has transformed into my business – I am now a Walmart 11 Mom, a Contributing Editor for BlogHer, and have worked with numerous companies including Kellogg’s and EA SPORTS Active. I am very active in the speaking circuit and am speaking at BlogHer 09, Type A Mom Conference, SITScation, Blogolicious and Blog World Expo.

Tell us a bit about your family life. Are you married? Do you have children? What is a typical day like for you.

I have been married for 3.5 years and have a two year old son, Mekhi. A typical day for me involves getting my son prepared for pre-school, dropping him off and then working on my blog. I answer emails during the day, work on my early literacy program and try to cross off as much as possible on my to do list. Some days I am more successful than others!

How do you maintain your ME in the midst of all that you do?

I believe the time that I spend in the social media space is Me time. I love interacting with my friends on line. I am working on incorporating reading more, since I’ve been active in social media I find myself reading numerous blogs and very few books. I want to l get back into the habit of reading books again.

What are some of the special things that you do when taking time for yourself?

One of the things I insisted on when we purchased a house was a jucuzzi tub. I have one in my master bath that does not get as much use as I thought it would. My special time consists of a nice bath, book and and glass of wine.

How do you find time in your busy schedule to make time for cbc_buttonyourself?

It is a challenge to find time for myself but I realize that I have to make time. If I don’t, I won’t be good for anyone. I am in the process of organizing my life better and actually scheduling ME time is one of my top priorities.

In all that you do, do you feel complete?  What would make your life complete?

I feel pretty complete. I have decided to my pursue my passions – blogging and speaking.   I love that I am able to spend time doing the things that I love and it truly does help me to feel complete. I would also like to have another baby and don’t want to wait to long, if we are successful and have a girl I think my life truly would be complete.

What advice can you give to the readers here at ICM to help them remember to take care of their Me?

Schedule me time. It might sound crazy but if you have been unable to do it this is a perfect way to remind yourself to take time just for you. Not only will it make you feel but your family will appreciate it too. A happy woman makes a happy home.
